Birkhoff factorization

Birkhoff factorization is a concept in mathematics, particularly in the field of algebra and dynamical systems that involves the factorization of a certain type of function, usually a piecewise linear or piecewise monotonic function. It is named after the American mathematician George David Birkhoff.
