Rocky Flats Plant

The Rocky Flats Plant was a nuclear production facility located near Boulder, Colorado, primarily responsible for producing trigger mechanisms for nuclear weapons, specifically the plutonium pits used in thermonuclear warheads. The facility operated from 1952 until its closure in 1992. During its operational years, the plant was a significant part of the United States' nuclear weapons program, especially during the Cold War.
