A clothes iron, also known simply as an iron, is a household appliance used to press clothes to remove wrinkles and unwanted creases, giving fabrics a smooth and tidy appearance. The iron typically consists of a flat, heated plate (the soleplate) that is pressed against the fabric. It can produce steam, which helps to relax the fibers of the fabric for easier wrinkle removal.
